If you’re opening or renovating a vape shop, picking display cabinets and mapping out the space isn’t just filling empty walls. We recently wrapped up the fixture and interior design work for a Vape shope. This local store sells disposable vapes, CBD items, hookahs and all related accessories. The owner wanted a shop that stood out visually, kept browsing simple, technical and had a small spot where customers could sit and talk.

Project Goals
Vape carries a wide range of goods. Without proper sectioning, shelves get messy fast, and shoppers struggle to find items they want. The shop owner laid out a few clear requirements from the start.
They wanted a modern look that would feel different from other local smoke shops. All products needed to be grouped clearly so people could navigate easily. They didn’t want the whole space to feel cramped, so a small customer lounge was non-negotiable. Also, lighting needed to show off product packaging without that cheap, overdone neon you see in many vape stores.
We skipped the standard pre-made smoke shop cabinet layout. We split the space into three simple areas: center island displays, long wall shelving, and a side lounge corner.

Store Layout
The main focal point sits right near the entrance. We put several freestanding island counters here for bestsellers and new product drops. These islands have red backlighting behind glass panels. It makes product packaging pop, and naturally draws people further into the store.
The back wall features full-length shelving. Adjustable open shelves work really well here because the shop rotates tons of new products all the time. Staff can restock quickly, and customers can scan the rows without opening every cabinet door.
On one side, we set aside a small lounge nook with a sofa, accent chairs and wall art. This isn’t just decoration. It softens the hard retail feel, lets visitors slow down, and gives the team room to answer product questions without blocking the main aisle.

Custom Fixture Details
-Central Island Counters:
These islands are built to catch attention and showcase top-selling disposables. Front panels use a textured splash-style metal finish, paired with internal red LED strips. Tempered glass keeps dust off inventory while keeping all products fully visible. This setup works great for new releases and high-volume items.
-Back Wall Shelving:
The long wall racking is the main workhorse for storage and display. Continuous mounted shelving with built-in LED strips keeps each shelf evenly lit. We split the wall into separate sections for different product lines. Shoppers can quickly tell which section holds disposables, CBD goods, and accessories. Staff spend less time tidying mixed-up stock.
-Hookah Display Nook:
Hookahs are larger and look very different from small vape packs. We didn’t mix them in with the smaller merchandise. We created a dedicated wall niche for hookah sets and their parts. Separating this category keeps everything neat and makes it easier for customers to compare different hookah models.
-Lighting Plan:
We didn’t blast the whole space with harsh overhead lighting. This shop uses layered lighting. The signature wavy deep blue ceiling with built-in linear LEDs creates that memorable first impression when you walk in; that’s the ambient room light. Then each cabinet gets its own focused lighting to shine directly on products. We added a few accent lights: star-shaped pendants and circular ring lights. We kept these to a minimum. Too many decorative lights compete with the products and make the space feel cluttered instead of stylish.

Product Zoning
When a store carries lots of different products, poor grouping ruins the shopping experience. We kept zoning simple for Vape:
- Disposable vapes: front islands + high-traffic section on the back wall
- CBD products: dedicated wall spot with branded posters
- Hookahs and shisha gear: custom wall niche
- Small accessories: side shelving units
This basic grouping cuts down confusion. Customers find items faster, and staff can guide shoppers without digging through mixed inventory.

Why Custom Fixtures Beat Pre-Made Cabinets For Vape Shops
Lots of new shop owners start shopping for off-the-shelf retail cabinets to save money. Once they open, they usually run into the same set of problems: wrong sizes, not enough shelf room, poor lighting, no custom branding, and messy mixed product displays.
Custom cabinets aren’t just for looks. They are built around your actual inventory and customer walking path. You can adjust shelf heights to fit your product packaging, place lighting exactly where you need it, add your logo and brand colors, and build sturdier frames for heavy daily retail use.
For vape and smoke retail, cabinets aren’t just storage boxes. They shape how customers view your shop and how easily they can browse your goods.
Function Comes First
This Vape store build worked out well because we never prioritized aesthetics over daily operations. The blue wave ceiling gives instant brand recognition. Backlit islands highlight top-selling goods. Long wall shelving handles large inventory, and the lounge area keeps customers sticking around longer. Every feature serves a real purpose, not just visual flair.
If you’re planning a vape or hookah shop remodel, nail down three things before ordering cabinets: your product mix, customer walking path, and your brand style. Sort these out first, and your design and build process will run far smoother.
