A centry-old vintage candy store is itself a work of art. When you enter the store, you will be amazed by its magnificent interior decoration: golden decorations, floral patterns, delicate furnishings, antique furniture, and exquisite ceilings, making you feel as if you have entered a candy palace.
The storefront of the Vintage Candy Shop
The storefront is the first impression of the store. This store uses a low-saturation vintage dark green as the base color, combined with three-dimensional gold-plated engraved lines. It abandons the current prevalent pale macaroon color scheme, which is the key to its having the "century-old store" atmosphere.

The outer layer is coated with durable matte dark green paint, and the bottom edge is widened with a gold metal border. Even if exposed to wind, sun, and pedestrian bumps for years, it is unlikely to have paint peeling or blackening. Two arc-shaped floor windows are designed on the left and right sides, with the frame border matching fine gold lines. A warm white light band surrounds the perimeter. During the day, it is transparent and bright, allowing passersby to clearly see the colorful candy jars inside; at night, when the lights are on, this store has the strongest visual presence in the entire street.
In the center of the storefront, a vintage wooden sign is hung, with the baseboard slightly distressed. It is paired with European-style cursive text and small engraved decorations, perfectly matching the overall retro style and not seeming out of place.

Display furniture of the retro candy store
There are numerous display furniture items in the store. Instead, three pieces were selected based on the store's layout and the placement of products.
1. The first one is the octagonal multi-level rotating island shelf in the center of the store
This is also the visual focus of the entire store. The main body of the shelf is made of North American walnut wood grain, with decorative strips of three-dimensional gilding embedded on the edges. It has multiple circular display angles, with an expanded octagonal base at the bottom, and is used to display chocolate gift boxes and souvenir sets; the middle and upper layers are neatly arranged with large-capacity transparent glass candy jars, filled with various candies.

2. The second one is the full-height cabinets on both sides of the store
Extending from the ground to the arched ceiling. The cabinet is designed in layers, and each layer can also have an embedded soft warm light strip. The upper open shelves are neatly arranged with canned candies, gift boxes, and bottled honey jam; the lower part of the cabinet has a closed cabinet door, specifically for storing inventory goods and packaging tools.
The ceiling design maximizes the use of the store's height, eliminating the need to separately divide storage areas and saving valuable store space for business operations. The closed bottom cabinet can hide all messy inventory, keeping the store always clean and tidy. The light strips are soft and non-dazzling, which can enhance the rich colors of candies and chocolates and will not cause them to deteriorate prematurely from direct strong light, balancing both aesthetic and food-preservation needs.

3. The third one is a continuous arc-shaped cashier and dessert integrated counter on the right side of the store
Which is the core area for selling and checking out. The cabinet still has a unified walnut wood grain, with regular solid-wood grids and gilded floating lines along the edges. The countertop is made of a whole piece of white marble, resistant to oil stains and scratches. When chocolate sauce and candy syrup spill on the countertop, a damp cloth can gently wipe it clean, and it will look brand new.
The inside of the counter can be combined with and embedded with a temperature-controlled glass display cabinet, layering and displaying handmade chocolates, macarons, and soft candy desserts. The independent temperature control protects the taste of the desserts. The arc-shaped counter weakens the sense of distance caused by straight lines, making communication between customers and staff more intimate and natural. The countertop is reserved with sufficient space for displaying retro cash registers, packaging boxes, price tags, and scanning devices, completing the processes of cashiering, selling, and packaging all in one, with extremely high space utilization.

Interior Decoration of the Vintage Candy Shop
- The secret to becoming a century-old store lies in the extensive use of a retro continuous vault design in the interior decoration, which is the key to creating an elegant retro atmosphere. The ceiling features segmented arched wooden suspended ceilings, with hidden ambient light strips embedded inside, and large-scale hand-gold-plated relief patterns are scattered in the center of the vault. The originally square and narrow 80㎡ space, with the continuous arched lines of decoration, is elongated in depth, visually appearing spacious and grand.
- The walls are uniformly painted with matte retro dark green latex paint. Corners and the top of the cabinets are outlined with fine golden plaster lines, avoiding the monotony and dullness of pure color walls. All the windows along the street are custom-made with retro colored glass, and the colorful patterned glass filters natural light. When sunlight enters the store, it forms soft and fragmented light. Without the need to place too many decorative items, it can naturally have a retro filter effect, and taking a casual photo also has an atmosphere.
- The floor is laid with large-sized white background marble tiles, with natural light gray stone patterns, which are waterproof, wear-resistant, and slip-resistant. The candy shop has a large flow of people, and even long-term foot traffic will not easily cause scratches or wear, and the tiles have a soft reflection, which can reflect the warm light in the store, making the overall space warmer and brighter.

The open space on the second floor is decorated with golden engraved iron railings, which are unified with the gold-plated patterned style of the ceiling, enriching the spatial hierarchy. Small decorative details can significantly enhance the store's sophistication, perfectly continuing the court retro style of the Art Nouveau movement in the early 20th century.
The lighting for the century-old candy store
The role of lighting is obvious. For a century-old store like this, it is necessary to consider the logic of lighting combination. The basic ambient lights, product lighting, and outline decorative lights have clear divisions of responsibilities, and there will be no problem of dazzling lights or dimmed products.
- The first layer is the hidden ambient light strips in the ceiling, evenly spread across the entire arched ceiling, providing soft basic light for the entire house, avoiding dark corners in the store;
- The second layer is the product lighting embedded in all display cabinets, warm yellow light precisely shining on candy jars, gift boxes, and dessert display cabinets, amplifying the bright and full colors of the candies, stimulating customers' desire to purchase;
- The third layer is the outline decorative lights for the storefront windows and the arched frame of the cashier counter, a circle of linear light strips outlining the furniture and architectural lines. When lit in the evening and at night, the retro and warm atmosphere is directly enhanced.
All the lighting uniformly uses 3000K warm yellow light, eliminating cold white light. Cold light will make the candies look stiff and cheap, while warm light can weaken the cold and hard texture of wood and marble, making the entire store warm and soothing, in line with the sweet and gentle product style of candies.

Timeless material and color combinations
From our design drawings, you can see that this retro court-style candy store requires a few precise colors. Only three fixed main colors are used: retro dark green, deep walnut brown, and matte gold. The combination of three low-saturation classic colors will not follow short-term trends and will remain attractive for decades. Dark green is stable and dirt-resistant, and using it in large areas will not cause aesthetic fatigue; dark wood color balances the heaviness of green, adding a warm and cozy atmosphere; a small amount of gold is used as an accent to brighten the space, which will not be flashy or vulgar.
